Buddy

Buddy

There are few things in this world harder than losing a beloved pet. Buddy was a remarkable chi-weenie that his owner referred to as his "miracle dog". He recently passed away and will be sorely missed by his family. Read below to see what his owner had to say about him.

"I trained him to lay down, sit, 'watch 'em'! (growl), and when I asked him if he wanted to go for a ride he headed for the door! He absolutely loved riding and letting his ears flap out the window. See he was my miracle dog because back in 2002 I was driving an 18-wheeler for SWIFT transportation for Target Distribution Center in Lindale and I was on my way home coming through Van on I-20 and I hyrdroplaned and hit another 18-wheeler head-on. Buddy was riding in the sleeper with no seat belt on like I had. After the collision I quickly came to my senses and could hear buddy yelping and I looked back toward the sleeper but he was not there, only a hole in the bottom of the truck ripped open so that I could see the grass below and my truck was on fire. I was trapped, for what seemed like and eternity at the time, trying to get my seat belt unstuck and unbuckled and then trying to open the door which was also stuck while the fire was getting larger faster. When I finally got out of the truck some people started trying to lead me away from it and I told them that I had to find my dog. I started heading back towards the truck and here came Buddy running up to me out of the grass. He and I were both taken in the ambulance to Mother Francis Hospital. He only has a small 1-inch gash on his rump. I had multiple lacerations. But we both walked out of a bad wreck we shouldn't have. Since then I've cried on his shoulder many times. He always understood."
