Pedro
Pedro is the first chi-weenie that I ever came across. He was rescued from the streets, hungry, dirty, and mistrustful. It took quite some time to relax him enough to be able to even play with him. Eventually, he let down his guard and decided that we were his family.
Pedro enjoys everything. For an older dog (he's 9 this year), he's very energetic and playful. If it squeaks, Pedro will play with it for hours. He loves rawhide treats, but little cubes of cheese are his favorite thing. If you can't find Pedro, all you need to do is say his name once. Whichever throw blanket or pillow he's hiding under will not be able to disguise his wagging tail. He LOVES to burrow under blankets and warm laundry. These days he sleeps quite a bit, but still had bursts of energy throughout the day where he will "spaz" out. When he goes into this mode, he will run from one side of the house to the other, repeatedly. He gets going so fast that he can barely stop when he gets to the other side. Then he spins and runs back. This happens almost every time I give him a bath. Apparently, he likes the feeling of being clean. Or maybe he's trying to air-dry.
I knew that I wanted a small dog, but I never knew exactly what I was looking for until I met Pedro. He's the best dog that I've had in my entire life. He loves me and everyone in my family with blind adoration. He even tries to "protect" us from larger dogs. If he sees a dog anywhere nearby, he'll strut and bark and assert that he's not as small as he looks. I love him to death and I'm so glad I found him.
